A University Student's Life in Foshan

Foshan Campus Life

Hello everyone, my name is Emily and I am a second-year student at Foshan University. I have been living in Foshan for the past year and it has been an incredible journey so far. I decided to write this post to share some of my experiences and maybe connect with other students or anyone who is interested in making new friends in Foshan.

My major is Environmental Science, which I chose because of my deep interest in sustainability and the environment. One of my favorite aspects of my studies is the hands-on projects we get to work on. For example, last semester, I was part of a team that researched the conservation of rare plants, including the elusive Monstera obliqua. It was fascinating to learn about its unique characteristics and the challenges it faces in its natural habitat.

Besides my academic pursuits, I enjoy exploring the city and discovering hidden gems. Foshan is a vibrant city with a rich cultural heritage. From the historic temples to the bustling markets, there is always something new to discover. I also love trying out local cuisine, especially the delicious Cantonese dishes. My personal favorite is the dim sum at a small restaurant near my campus, where the shrimp dumplings are simply divine.

In my free time, I volunteer at a local community garden. It’s a great way to stay active and meet people who share similar interests. We often organize plant swaps and workshops, which are not only educational but also a lot of fun. Recently, we even had a workshop on propagating Monstera obliqua, and I learned so much from it.

I am always looking for new ways to connect with people and make meaningful friendships. If you’re a fellow student in Foshan or someone who shares my interests, I would love to hear from you. Let’s connect twice, and maybe even become friends forever with 2friend!
